Lincoln: We are sleeping because we are nocturnal. We are skunks. This is our skunk bunkbed area because we are sleeping, nocturnal skunks. Adrienne: Yeah and we have little baby eggs. The rules of the game and the song shifted a few times, but then we got into the groove! E found the perfect material for a "Queen Elsa" inspired gown. When she was done she said she loved it so much she NEVER wanted to take it off! The paper doll fashion experimentation is still going on at the sewing area as the children are waiting their turns to use one of our "libbys" to sew on. We have a BIG performance all ready for the parents at our annual "Luncheon on the Green" and the children are psyched to create, design, sew, and wear original pieces! Franklin models his fancy broadway-esqe ball gown and Cormac shows off his snazzy new performance pants! Carter, Cormac and Evan designed some fabulous dresses on the paper dolls as well. A few more snapshots from our day:
There was kindness in the air this Friday. Everyone was being extra kind to each other and it felt a little extra magical. We started with some quiet meditation today during our morning gathering. But first we watched the Elsa Goes to Tire Warehouse show! Art, Books, Building, Baby care-taking, with writing and researching animals happening all around the classroom this morning. Elsa had some friends driving their cars through paint to make some tire prints for a thankyou card for Tire Warehouse (ask your kiddos about the exciting Elsa Goes to Tire Warehouse show)! Maeve made an animal poster with drawings and labels of different animals. Dawn read and sang Puff the Magic Dragon several times through. The group had a beautiful discussion about the word "sorrow". Lexi tells us she learned the word sorrow from a poem about a raven. Cormac said that talking about puff feeling sorrow made his heart feel like being more kind today. Lexi drew a picture of an ear and said "I know I will give this ear to Gracie because she REALLY likes ears! Holly did some paper doll art with the kids today, but somehow didn't get any pics of it...(well except this one that I made for Kingston hehe) Of course one of the most exciting parts of Friday is the French Toast :) Elsa hit on the following VELS today:

I asked some friends if they would help me make thank you cards for our Vermont legislators to say "Thank you for listening to our teachers". Several kids were more than ready to help! Magnatile exploration in a truly mixed-age group! On our walk we discovered some neighbors were doing a chainsaw project! Of course we had to stop and watch for a bit! The whole class spent a lot of time in the woods today! Half the group went to the Special Log and half the group to the Magic Bridge. It was a lot of fun for the kids to observe Virginia and see what she enjoyed about being in the woods. Magic Bridge Exploration Group Hope you are enjoying the blog! Don't forget to stop by and leave us a comment so we know you are checking it out :) THANKS!xoxo DSP Teachers
Happy April! Here is what we have been doing the last few days at school. We are still very interested in exploring the log, makings some slime to enjoy, and making some pretty epic forts! We have been playing with slime (aka gak), building forts, and exploring with ribbons! Collin is spending the first few days of this week with us while Holly and Dawn are in DC :) Azy and Charlie were “under discuise” :)
AN Exciting day of creating; art, music, dance and taking risks outside! We made some glitter cakes out of our “blue lagoon blue” paper pulp! We mashed and sprinkled the glitter into some lovely sensory cakes. Virginia really appreciated playing with the excess water we squeezed out. Camila said it looked like she made glitter soup! Holly made these intricate open ended sculptures with the glue gun and some other interesting pieces. You can catch them on display in our classroom! With this warmer weather, we have been loving the log! We have gone almost everyday to jump, build forts, and check in with our honorary class-pet/ neighbor, pumpkin the cat :)
