Today was another exciting, enriching day at Davis Studio Preschool. We built forts in the block room that turned into a castle and an animal hospital with Elsa, decorated Halloween invitations for our Halloween Parade with Holly, used our collaboration and critical thinking skills to put together an alphabet train puzzle with Dawn, and engaged in some sensory activities making goody bags out of play dough and exploring the water table with Andy. We also wrote another collaborative story at Community Gathering, read some books, built with magnatiles, explored the magic trees in the Davis Studio yard, and cleaned up the falling leaves in the Outdoor Classroom. Our snack today was hummus with blue chips, carrots, and cucumbers. Please enjoy some photos from our day!

Today the Davis Studio Preschool was filled with tons of cognitive learning and imagination. We created a step by step picture instruction describing how to be a snack helper with Tiffany, played a subtraction game with jewels and tree cookies while reading one of our new books with Elsa, investigated more color theory in the water table with liquid watercolors with Dawn, and had a book picnic with Holly in the Outdoor Classroom. We also went on a nature walk, painted with glitter paint, read some more of our new books, and sorted the natural materials collected on our walk yesterday. Our scrumptious snack today was pancakes, bananas, and watermelon. Please enjoy some photos from today's adventures!
Peace and Love, Dawn The first thing we would like to say today is THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR OUR NEW BOOKS!!! Our new books arrived today and we were all so excited to see them, read them, and pick which areas of the classroom they should go to. We can't thank you enough for your generous contributions to our library! We can't wait to read them all! Our day was also filled with lots of imaginative play, creativity, and gross motor fun! We created a new collaborative story during Community Gathering then drew illustrations to go along with the story with Elsa, created a village in the block room with a train track, garage, and town center with Tiffany, and went for a nature walk where we collected natural loose parts for the classroom and challenged ourselves to embark on some safe risk-taking with Dawn and Holly. We also read lots of stories from our new collection of books, picked out some cards to write in, traced some shapes, made some playdough food, decorated a new paper marble run, and took a "nature bath" (closed our eyes and took in deep breaths of the forest air). For snack today we had Ants on a Log and Popcorn. Please enjoy some photos from our awesome day!
Peace and Love, Dawn Today was filled with critical thinking, cooperative and collaborative play at the Davis Studio Preschool. We built a marble run out of paper plates with Tiffany, created sculptures out of recycled materials with Elsa, wrote another collaborative story during Community Gathering with Holly, and drew obstacle course blueprints which led to building a course in the block room with Dawn. We also created sticker art, built dragons, castles, and rabbit houses out of blocks, went on a treasure hunt to the playground beyond the woods, made ice cream in the mud kitchen, and drew a huge collaborative map (which can be found at the bottom of the staircase that leads to the parking lot). Our delicious snack today was scones, watermelon, and orange slices. Please enjoy some photos from today's adventures!
Peace and Love, Dawn Davis Studio Preschool was full of creativity and imagination today! We decorated the dollhouse with Halloween decorations with Holly, made some beautiful salt paintings with Elsa, created a treasure map which we used on a treasure hunt with Tiffany, and we built jumping obstacle courses with Dawn. During Community Gathering, Alden shared a bird skull he found in the woods on a walk with his parents and we wrote a collaborative story about some animals that went to a pumpkin patch. We also added another layer of decorations to our big pumpkin, went on a puddle jumping walk, played firefighters, and went on a bear hunt. Our scrumptious snack was oatmeal, raisins, pumpkin seeds, and apples. Please enjoy these photos from our fantastic day!
Peace and Love, Dawn Davis Studio Preschool was filled with messy, collaborative, fun activities today. We explored varying degrees of oobleck and color mixing with Dawn, decorated pumpkins with glue, stamps, paper, and paint with Holly, created a mouse house and other buildings in the block room with Elsa, and played restaurant with Alane. We also read lots of books, built structures with magnatiles, played pirates and experimented with balance and counterbalancing weight on the seesaw in the Outdoor Classroom. Our snack was delicious carrot fries, black olives, and watermelon. Please enjoy some photos from our day!
Peace and Love, Dawn Today was another day full of imagination and exploration at Davis Studio Preschool. We wrote and illustrated a collaborative story with Holly and then acted it out on stage in the Outdoor Classroom for our friends, built lots of structures and read stories with Andy, and explored several natural materials in our sensory table, including sunflowers, pine needles, pine cones, and leaves. We also made some food in the mud kitchen, played with the light table, and dug for treasures in the digging area. Our snack for today was yogurt, granola, and peaches. Please enjoy some photos from our fun-filled day!
Peace and Love, Dawn Today was another incredible day at Davis Studio Preschool! We painted with water colors and did some leaf rubbings with Tiffany, wrote more letters at our new writing center with Holly, built cars and rocket ships out of Legos with Dawn, and painted with sand in the Outdoor Classroom with Elsa. We also played in the drama center and created a restaurant called Grampa's Restaurant, built some complex structures out of magnatiles, experimented with counter balancing on the seesaw, painted logs, made banana bread in the mud kitchen, went travelling on yoga mats, and so much more! Our scrumptious snack today was muffins, apple slices, and orange slices. Please enjoy some pictures from our day!
Peace and Love, Dawn Our day at school today was full of amazing moments and incredible engagement! We explored our emotions and took pictures of different feelings on our faces with Tiffany, painted a pumpkin and discovered how to make impression paintings with Dawn, created and organized a new writing center while also writing some letters along the way with Holly, and went for a nature walk, built fairy houses, and found a fort in the woods with Elsa. We also celebrated Adrienne's birthday (she's 3!), read some stories, cut our playdough into tiny pieces, cooked some food in our restaurant, looked for more evidence of fairies in the Outdoor Classroom, and had a dance party! Our delicious snack today was tortellini pasta salad and watermelon. Please enjoy some pictures from our fun-filled day!
Peace and Love, Dawn At Morning Gathering we sang our good morning song, wished Ivy a happy birthday, listened to Ivy share a little about her presents, shared some ways we keep ourselves and each other safe with Elsa, sang our "I Hear Something Beautiful" anthem, and prepared ourselves for the day! Dawn had a group of master lego builders in the block room! Camila shared some pumpkins with us today. We decided to do some hammering and screw work on the pumpkin while discussing what we observed. We decided as a group we would also love to carve and paint it, but how would we carve it. Hmmm... We decide to go ask Chef Jonathan if he has any tools we could use to carve our pumpkin! But to our surprise, Jonathan is doing a very exciting job--changing lightbulbs!! Next we did some carving open of our pumpkin and explored what was inside! We felt the goopy stuff. Some kids liked how it felt and enjoyed sorting out the seeds. Some kids did not enjoy the goopy stuff and wanted to wash their hands right away :) Next, we packed up the pumpkin, the carving tools, some marker and paint. We were ready to decorate this pumpkin outside at the picnic table! For snack we enjoyed apples, crackers, jam, and cheddar cheese. After snack we did some group yoga with Elsa, wrote in journals with Tiffany, and read books with Holly. It was a super fun and engaging Monday morning!
